Hiking Merit Badge 10 Mile Hike #4. We started at Will Rogers State Historic Park. Started with a deer sighting, and took the trail to the Inspiration Point. From there, we took the Backbone Trail (Rogers Road) to the Temescal Fire Road then to the Eagle Rock Fire Road. A short way up the Eagle Rock Fire Road, there is a bench set up on an overlook. Thanks to the Goetz Family who donated the bench, we took a lunch break there. "Rest for the weary" as inscribed on the bench. We then headed back the same way we came. With the recent rain falls, wildflowers are starting to bloom. We saw a gigantic wild cucumber on the way up. Many bikers were out riding the trails, and we saw two horses going by on the trail. It was a mostly sunny day, but it bare broke 60 degrees. Another great day for hiking.
